I can make one more error on this journey.
, which is:
ignoring what is directly in front of you
The first is a quote from Buddha and the last is a quote from me.
Both are crucial.
My co-host Sally Nutter and I discussed how a person might decide on someone or something, or even a group of someones, when under stress or misunderstanding in yesterday's radio show.
These judgments are firm and may help the person deal with their confusion at the time, but they are then shown and the person looks at them again.

You learn a lot about life.
No of your age, there is nothing like stepping outside of your comfort zone to make you understand that you are a rookie in life.
There are a lot of things to learn, like how to order food in an Italian restaurant if you don't know the language and the menus are in Italian.
You are never alone.
Anywhere you go, you can meet people.
the first one to smile. Make an attempt to join in their celebrations or simply ask them questions about their lives.
You meet unforgettable people.
I bought a little apartment in Southern Italy a few years ago.
It has been enchanted.
The bond I made with the woman who runs the tiny grocery store in Santa Domenica Talao is one of my most prized relationships.
Nunzia is my girlfriend, and we fell in love right away.
Even though we still have some language issues, it doesn't really seem to matter.
Every time I visit, I get showered with kisses, unannounced hugs appear, and thanks to her acceptance and affection, I am drawn into the heart of the community.
I visit her shop in the morning to get coffee.
I enjoy seeing the locals enter for their produce.
You learn to enjoy transient relationships
On a recent vacation, I chose to go from Cremona in the North to my residence in the South on a sluggish train.
I rode a train that stopped at every station for 13 hours.
I had the pleasure of traveling in a compartment with other Naples residents.
You should meet people from Naples if you haven't already since they are so much fun!
Just as the train was getting underway, inquiries about my background, intended destination, and areas of interest began.
Food was served after being opened.
Conversations took place.
In order to impress her pals, the young girl seated next to me begged me to translate every word she could think of into English.
We had a lot of fun!
You have to try new things.
Travel is exciting, whether you are getting on a bus and hoping it will take you somewhere familiar or staring at a menu and realizing you have no idea what the things are.
You must take fresh actions.
It is all about getting oneself into circumstances and converting them into fantastic experiences.
Okay, maybe a couple.
One of my most essential life lessons is to never eat anything you wouldn't want to step on with your bare feet. If the water is bad, you shouldn't drink it or consume uncooked food.
Besides that, just go have some fun.
Before you travel, do some research on the local culture, and if things doesn't go as planned, make the experience interesting.
Oh, and make sure you have an emergency box of tissues since you never know what the restrooms are like in train stations!
You find the value in getting lost.
Really!
After becoming lost in a city, wander around.
The wonderful part is that taxis are always available, so whenever you are tired, you can just hop in one.
There is nothing like being lost in Rome, where a gorgeous sculpture can be found on every street corner, or in Brussels, where every neighborhood is home to a variety of bakeries or bistros.
Travel guides do not cover everything there is to see and do.
Get lost and off course!
You get out of your environment
Every time I leave the country, I discover that I can look at my life from a different perspective and discover answers or improvements that I never would have seen if I hadn't left everything behind.
We keep our heads down and carry on as we conduct our lives.
We are the source of all of our issues.
Traveling allows you to escape them and find solutions.
While we frequently struggle with our own issues, we always seem to have solutions for those of others.
It is challenging to discover solutions to something you are inside of since we are IN our problems.
You learn to forget the plan.
I don't have a set itinerary when I travel; I just draw an outline.
There are always things I want to see and do, but being a prisoner to a schedule is the last thing I desire.
Make the trip flexible.
View what you desire, but give yourself plenty of time to stray.
Visit the church you accidentally found, stop at the Vatican, or simply hang out by the sea till dinner.
Even though I tend to be a type A personality, I love to get my tiny air mattress and go bobbing in the sea when I'm in Southern Italy.
I unwind while I observe the sky, watch the kids splash around in the water, and consider dinner.
You understand a different way of life.
When Nunzia and I were out to supper, I questioned Nunzia about her childhood in a Southern Italian community perched upon a hill.
She said that everyone in the community was a member of her family.
Everyone in the village is impacted by births and deaths in the same way as families are.
Everyone in the village was obviously adored and respected, as I could see.
Everyone came together, flaws were overlooked.
It gave me a completely new perspective on a way of life that I now wish to develop in my community at home.
