After being picked up from your hotel in Bacolod, you will make your way to the Church of San Sebastian, a 19th-century cathedral. It is now home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bacolod. San Sebastian Cathedral was once a simple wooden parish church. It was then expanded into a larger structure made of coral and durum wood stones, with an exterior Gothic style and an elegant interior. You will then proceed to the Bacolod Plaza, which is located directly across from the church.
The Bacolod Plaza, which was established in 1927 by the Spanish Colonial Government, is now a public park for social, leisure, and cultural activities. The location also serves as the final leg of the renowned Masskara Festival of Bacolod's annual street dance competition. The bandstand, a small kiosk in the plaza's center that has been used for various activities since the Spanish era, is a prominent feature of the plaza.
Then you'll go to the lagoon, which is right next to the capital's park. On the north and south ends of the lagoon, there are exquisite statues of a man and a woman, each accompanied by a male and a female water buffalo. You will then be taken to the well-known Manokan Country, where you will find a row of restaurants serving Bacolod's chicken inasal. As part of the tour package, you will eat this local dish for lunch at one of the restaurants.
Following lunch, you will be taken to the Pope John Paul II Tower, a seven-story structure dedicated to the late pope. The Gallery of Masks is less than two kilometers from the tower and offers a diverse collection of artisan masks and costumes for a small fee. Mask painting sessions are also available at the gallery.
Following that, you will be driven to La Guerta and the Glass Vintage Museum, which houses a large collection of antique glasses, before proceeding to the New Government Center for a photo opportunity. The Ruins, the most popular attraction on Bacolod City tours, will also be visited. The Ruins was a manor built in 1920 to honor Maria Braganza, the late wife of a wealthy sugar baron. It is known as the Philippines' Taj Mahal. Your tour concludes at one of Bacolod's two most well-known souvenir shops, Bongbong's or Merci.
